WS Culture Booth for City Of Burnaby Canada Day Celebration
There were 3 grand Canada Day celebration in Burnaby on July 1, 2022:
One at Edmonds Plaza and Park; one at Burnaby Village Museum; and the StreetFest on Central - Civic Square, Central Boulevard and Central Park.
WS Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society was selected to organizing a Culture Booth for the StreetFest on Central.
5 WS volunteers arrived at the site before 3pm for preparation. The celebration supposed to start at 7pm, but from 6pm to 10pm the public started to show up at our booth for the “How Much Do You Know About Canada” riddle guessing game. The participants were thrilled when they got the answer correct and took home any small prize we prepared in advance; when they didn’t know the correct answer, they’d come back and patiently wait at the long line up to challenge themselves do the guessing game again.
With the great support from City of Burnaby, hundreds and thousands of people across the world from various cultural background brought home not only the small prizes, but also the joy and happiness especially after the 2 years COVID-19 pandemic.
